New Years Resolutions or Reflection?

It’s not even Hanukkah or Christmas but are New Year's Resolutions still a thing? I’m team whatever-works-for-you so I am pro New Years Resolutions on January 1st. Sure, it’s cliché. But what’s wrong with wanting to set goals for yourself and to do better? While I have not come up with any new years resolutions myself, I have spent some time reflecting on my year. My version of self reflection is usually created in a list with an arbitrary number that has a jingle to it. This is a way to organize my reflection because I am notorious for tangents and for being a know-it-all. While my new years resolution/theme is under construction, here is my “reflection list”.

22 Things I Learned in 2022

1. Don’t listen to college guidance counselors. They are also overpaid.

2.When it’s your wedding, do whatever you want.

3.Also be very picky about who you invite.

4.Un Verano Sin Ti was the best album this year.

5.Work-life balance is challenging.

6.Get the Sugar Free Vanilla Chai Syrup from TJMaxx.

7.Intrinsic motivation over extrinsic.

8.You may have to relearn some life lessons.

9.Don’t be a hater. The only person it affects is YOU.

10.Dig deep. It’s probably not “someone else” that is the problem. It you.

11.You will not always get the apology you are looking for.

12.Insta therapy is NOT real therapy. Do the work.

13.Comfort will kill you.

14.Overconsumption will kill you. Even if it’s something you love and live for.

15.Your phone is probably the root of many problems.

16.You probably don’t have ADHD.

17.Anyone can experience anxiety and depression.

18.Don’t feel the need to entertain others. People want you there. Believe that.

19.Don’t forget about your hobbies.

20.Define yourself by your actions, not your thoughts.

21.Also you are NOT your thoughts.

22.Don’t give up. Keep going.

Kindly, Kat
